ICF Credential Levels
ICF-accredited coach education programs are aligned with the global credential pathway defined by the International Coaching Federation.
Professional coaches can pursue three credential levels, each reflecting increasing coaching experience and demonstrated competence.
Each credential requires accredited education, documented coaching hours, mentor coaching, and successful completion of the ICF credential assessment.
Why Accredited Coaching Education Matters
Not every coaching course leads directly to professional certification.
Coaching education that has been accredited by the International Coaching Federation is aligned with the ICF Core Competencies and Code of Ethics. These programs are designed to prepare coaches for the ICF credentialing process and provide a clear pathway toward earning an ICF Credential.
Accredited education ensures that training meets internationally recognized standards for professional coaching.
Coaches who have completed education that is not ICF-accredited may still pursue an ICF credential through alternative application pathways. In these cases, applicants may be asked to submit documentation of their training program to demonstrate that the education aligns with ICF standards.
All credential eligibility requirements and final assessments are determined by ICF Global.
